About Go Stone

The hands behind the stone

Go Stone is built around a small, hard-working team with a serious respect for sandstone and what it can become.

From the Somersby yard, Mark and James cut, shape, dress and prepare stone for homes, landscapes, builders, designers and architectural projects across the Central Coast, Sydney and surrounds. Some jobs are practical. Some are detailed. Some are completely custom. The common thread is the same: real stone, real skill and a team that knows how to turn raw material into something lasting.

Whether it is a wall, monument, carved feature, set of steps or a one-off sandstone piece, Go Stone brings a hands-on approach to every project.

Owner / sandstone specialist

Mark

Mark has been working with stone for around 40 years, starting as a teenager and building a lifetime of practical knowledge one block, cut and finish at a time.

He knows how sandstone behaves, where it will split, how it should be dressed and what it takes to turn a rough piece of stone into something accurate, balanced and built to last. That experience is hard to fake.

With a face nearly as weathered as the sandstone itself, Mark brings old-school skill, patience and judgement to the yard every day. From carving and engraving to custom capping, monuments and detailed masonry work, he is the steady hand behind some of Go Stone’s most impressive pieces.

Yard lead / stonework specialist

James

James is the engine room of the Go Stone yard.

Strong, capable and hands-on, he is usually found moving, cutting, splitting or shaping sandstone with the kind of energy that makes the work look easier than it is. Whether he is swinging a hammer, working the machinery or preparing stone for a customer’s project, James brings the physical skill and attention needed to keep the yard moving.

He has also become something of a Go Stone Instagram favourite, with more than a few comments appreciating both the workmanship and the hammer technique. Behind the attention is a serious tradesman who knows how to handle stone properly and prepare it to specification.

Yard security / morale officer

Remy

No proper stone yard is complete without a dog keeping an eye on things. The real site foreman at Go Stone.

Doesn’t lift a single rock… but somehow supervises every cut, every column and every coffee break. Quality control? Elite. Morale booster? Even better.

If you see James on site, just know Remy’s running the show behind the scenes.

Should we put her on payroll?
